Privacy & data
Updated 27 September 2026. CheckoutHub ZA is operated by VaKoop Pty Ltd. Contact benji@vakoop.co.za about your information.
Information used by the app
We store your account name, email, internal account identifier, password hash, active login sessions, invite-code usage, saved products and alert preferences to provide your account and personalise alerts. If you allow notifications, we store your device’s push token, platform, app build, operating-system version and registration time to route notifications and troubleshoot delivery. Notification delivery/read records and optional notification-tap records support your history and leaderboard. Passwords are hashed rather than stored as plain text. App requests use HTTPS; network infrastructure also processes IP addresses and request metadata for delivery, rate limiting and security.
We keep public retailer stock observations and notification history. If you voluntarily join the leaderboard, your chosen nickname and server-recorded notification-tap times are visible to other members. Your email and device token are not published. Leaving the leaderboard removes your recorded rankings.
Community-rule consent and reports about usernames are recorded for moderation. Reports contain the reporting account identifier, reported account/username, selected reason and timestamp. They are visible only to the owner and are not sent to the reported member.
Where the owner links your membership to billing, we store subscription references, payment status, amounts, grace-period dates and private account notices. CheckoutHub ZA does not collect your card number in the app. Automated billing checks, payment reminders and payment-based alert restrictions are currently disabled; existing billing records may remain. No purchase is offered inside the app.
Notifications and service providers
Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging process device tokens and notification payloads to deliver alerts. Our API is hosted on DigitalOcean and its public connection uses Cloudflare. Linked payment status uses Stitch when billing checks are enabled. Support emails are processed through our email provider. These providers may process information outside South Africa. Retailer websites opened from alerts have their own privacy practices.
We do not sell your account information. The app has no advertising or Google Analytics integration. The owner can access membership and operational records to support accounts and run the service.
Your controls
You can disable stock pushes in the app, mute individual products, choose priority products, leave the leaderboard and sign out. Benji’s member announcements remain enabled in the app, including while stock alerts are muted or paused for billing. Your phone’s notification settings still control whether any push can appear. Phone permission, Focus/silent mode and network availability can affect delivery.
Deletion and retention
Members can choose You → Delete my account and confirm their password. This removes their account, sessions, registered devices, preferences, saved products, personal billing records and leaderboard entries from the live app database. Shared retailer product/stock history remains. Operational audit records and backup copies may remain until separately removed; contact us for a data or deletion request. An owner must transfer owner access before deleting their own account. You can also request deletion without installing or signing into the app.
Account and operational history is currently retained unless deleted; the beta does not yet apply a general automatic retention deadline. Do not submit identity documents, card information or other sensitive information to app support.
